Accordion book with mixed media techniques

I just realized that I never shared this sweet little accordion book with you.

The covers are made from wood (from the Great Outdoors kit from Club Scrap).  I glued a piece of patterned paper (from a 6x6 Stampin' Up!) pack to the covers using gel medium, and then rubbed it off with water, creating the lovely translucent image transfer.

I then traced a pattern from a stencil (this is from the Ivory Elegance kit from Club Scrap), and used my wood burning tool to trace it. A little ink for color on the leaves, and around the edges, and it's done!  I think there may be some extra coats of medium to seal things up, but it's been a while since I made this book, so I don't remember all of the details.

Here you can see the front and back at the same time.  The corners on the folded pages are rounded, to mimic the rounding of the wood corners.  Two pieces of paper are glued together to create the accordion.

  2. I love this accordion book! I love how dimension the cover looks. This would be such a fun way to write a letter to someone or write a story.
