Cards for a Cause

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and this year I participated in a card-making event during the Club Scrap retreat to create lots of cards to give to a local charity.

When we first opened the stamps, Paul thought "Bald is beautiful" was a stamp made for him.  I'll have to figure out how to repurpose that into a card for him someday!

When I know I want to make a lot of cards, and know I don't have a lot of time, I turn to my Club Scrap assembly line cardmaking idea deck.  They provide the instructions to cut the paper into cards and panels, and I add my creativity to make them all special.  I used volume two, and the five and seven of spades directions.

I did alter the 5 of spades directions to just create a plain card rather than a tri-folded card - you end up with a nice large scrap that can be used for another mat, or for panels to create additional stamped images.  Both directions created a standard invitation size card, so I just pulled out a lot of paper, cut it up, and mixed and matched the pieces and scraps to make my cards.

All of the stamps used in these cards were from the We Are Aware collection from Club Scrap.  I made it a mini-challenge to myself to only use these stamps on the cards.

Paul, of course, got into the spirit, too, by creating some awesome quilled pieces that I used throughout the cards.

In the end, I made 58 cards in just a day.  It made me feel great, and I hope it brightens someone's day when she receives one of these cards.
